Kanpur: Two people were arrested Tuesday by the City Police. One was a PhD-holder and one was a BTech in Textile Engineering. The other was a BTech (textile technology) who learned how to create fake money by watching YouTube videos. They claimed that fake currency valued at Rs 459,050 had been recovered.
Kunwar Anuj (33), Saurabh (40), were natives from Sirsaganj in Firozabad and Vimal Sing (40) from Gujaini, the city (Kanpur). “Kunwar Anuj is a BTech (textile) graduate, while Saurabh is a PhD holder and Vimal is a graduate,” informed joint commissioner of police (JCP) Anand Prakash Tiwari.
Commissioner of police (CP) BP Jogdand said, “All three wanted to make quick money, trained themselves by watching YouTube on how to procure fake currency notes. Since the past few months, they have been printing rupees 50, 100 and 200 denominations in a Firozabad godown. Police have recovered paper, a printer, scale, blade, ink, three mobile phones, besides fake currency worth Rs 459,050 from their possession.”
They learned about the quality of paper, colours, and the requirements for a colour printer to print fake currency notes. Then they started printing them from a Firozabad godown.
Kunwar Anuj and Saurabh used to print fake notes while Vimal’s job was to circulate fake notes in the market places and other commercial establishments.
Police added that Vimal was the first to be arrested and that his inputs led to Kunwar Anuj and Saurabh being arrested from Firozabad on Tuesday as they attempted to hand over fake currency notes for their clients.
JCP Anand Prakash Tiwari stated Saurabh was jobless, while Kunwar Anj, a PhD, runs an brick kiln, and Vimal is the taxi driver. The suspects were printing quality fake bills. The notes almost looked genuine,” he said. “We suspect they have circulated fake notes in other districts as well,” said a police officer.
