The highest throughput microscale 3D printer

The New 25µm Resolution Printer Combines Part Quality and Speed for End-Part Production

BOSTON, Nov. 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF), the pioneer in microscale 3D printing systems, today unveiled the microArch™ S350, the latest addition to its roster of industrial-grade micro-precision 3D printers. This next-generation version of BMF’s 25µm resolution system offers the highest throughput in the company’s portfolio, combining high part quality with the print speed required for end-part production.

The microArch S350 is built upon BMF’s patented Projection Micro Stereolithography (PµSL) technology, a technique that allows for rapid photopolymerization of layers of liquid polymer using a flash of UV light at micro-scale resolution. The printer has a larger build volume (100x100x50mm) and less projection zones to increase print speed. It can be used in production environments or labs to print micro-scale parts with high resolution features or parts that require high precision or accuracy. The new automated lateral membrane shifting allows for easier part removal and integration with a robot arm. This results in increased automation and ease-of-use for end-part manufacturing. Additional capabilities include automatic resin fill and adjustment, a Laser displacement sensor, and an advanced rolling machine that spreads layers at a greater speed.

The microArch S350 can be used with a growing number of engineering and ceramic resins that are suitable for end-use parts. Two new materials have been announced today:

  • BMFMED powered by 3D Systems- A rigid amber material suitable for applications that require biocompatibility and/or translucency. It provides parts with crisp details that can be sterilized and tested at high temperatures over 100 °C.
  • Loctite 3D 3955 – High-performance halogen-free flame retardant UL94-V0 high modulus photopolymer resin. Printable at 60°C.

BMF’s microArch system was launched globally by BMF in February 2020More than 200 customers have used the company’s micro 3D printing machines for prototyping and research and development as well as end-use production. Industries such as electronics, optics/photonics and life sciences that are keen to miniaturize are now able to use additive manufacturing to innovate in new ways.

“BMF has become the industry leader for printing small and micro-sized parts requiring high resolution, accuracy and precision in the 2µm and 10µm resolution spaces. Now, we’re bringing that experience to an even wider range of end-use applications at the 25µm level,” said John KawolaBMF CEO. “This printer is designed for industrial customers that require higher throughput, greater volume, more automation, but the result is still best among DLP platforms. We can’t wait to see what our clients do with it.”

“We are delighted to be one of BMF’s first customers. We love the performance of their high-resolution 3-D printing solution. Recently, we’ve been testing BMF’s first-generation microArch P150. It has produced accuracy that is unmatched by any other additive lab system. The microArchS350 has been a key tool in the production of high-resolution connectors, thanks to its high part quality and high throughput. Xiaoming Luo, Principal 3D Printing Engineer, Aerospace, Defense, and Marine (AD&M) at TE Connectivity. “We feel that the microArch S350 gives Te the ability to produce extremely high resolution connectors.
