Letter: Why is DTG allowed to maintain fouling our floor water? | Opinion

To the editor — State Ecology has decided DTG’s Rocky Prime landfill is a poisonous hazardous waste cleanup website.

This summer season Ecology discovered DTG excavated the pure soil layer beneath the landfill that serves as a protecting “various liner.”

“It’s clear that geologic data used to justify the no-liner design of the ability, particularly the thick sequence of basalt and the Vantage Interbed as the important thing components to make sure safety of floor water, has been irrevocably violated by facility operators,” James Rivard wrote in a Sept. 2 letter from Ecology to Shawn Magee of the Yakima Well being District.

“… the no-liner design doesn’t meet the minimal purposeful requirements for an LPL as required by WAC 173-350-400. Ecology recommends that placement of waste on the DTG LPL stop till such time as a liner will be designed and constructed to fulfill the necessities of 173-350-400.”

Regardless, DTG continues to movement waste from Puget Sound right here for “restoration,” however primarily disposal. DTG representatives inform the general public every part is ok to allow them to preserve their “out of county” waste gravy practice rolling.

Regulators want to guard the general public and cease the waste movement, examine and remediate the ability to guard our native ingesting water provide. Why enable extra DTG suspect disposal at this poisonous unlined dump?
