AHMEDABAD, Tuesday: The City Crime Branch arrested four youths accused of printing and selling “tickets” for the India-Pakistan World Cup fixture that took place on October 14.
Chaitanya Mandilik, deputy commissioner of police for the crime branch, said that four people were arrested. They were identified as Kush Meena (21), Rajveer Takor (18), from Zundal and Dhrumil Takor (18), from Ghatlodia. Jaymin Prajapati (18), from Motera.

World Cup fake tickets

Mandalik said that Prajapati, the owner of a photocopying shop on Judges Bunglows Road, Bodakdev is the main accused. He and his accomplices decided to take advantage of the World Cup mania in order to sell fake tickets.
“They printed at the very least 200 tickets, and 50 of them were sold to a Maninagar resident for Rs 2 lakh.” They advertised the ticket on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram and sold each one for between Rs 2, 000 and Rs 20,000,” Mandalik stated.
A team led by Inspector V B Aal raided Prajapati’s shop on the basis of a tip off. They caught the four men and seized their printed tickets.
Meena was given the task by Prajapati to make fake tickets. She asked for an original first. Thakor approached Kadi, whose identity wasn’t revealed, to get a genuine match ticket.
‘Had photoshopped real ticket’
Meena made a photoshop copy of the original, and printed it out on thick premium paper. They did not alter the barcodes and serial numbers so a buyer informed the police about the scam.
The Crime Branch filed a complaint against a person for criminal conspiracy, fraud, deception and forgery. An investigation was launched.
The accused all claim to have no criminal record and that they committed the crime in order to make some quick money. All of them, except Prajapati are unemployed.
