Arizona judge dismisses Kari Lake’s claims for election fraud

PHOENIX (NBC) – A judge ruled Saturday against Kari Lake’s attempt to overturn Arizona’s 2022 elections.

This means that Katie Hobbs will become the governor-elect for Arizona. The election will not be rerun.

Peter Thompson, a former Republican governor appointee to the Superior Court, is a judge. Jan Brewer affirmed that there was no evidence to support Lake’s allegations of misconduct.

Lake didn’t provide evidence to support her claims that she committed widespread, intentional misconduct during Election Day at her two day trial. She was challenging her loss against Katie Hobbs, Democrat in the state’s governor race.

Printer problem claims

Lake never proved her claim that printer problems at Maricopa County’s polling places were intentional acts that would change the race’s outcome if they hadn’t occurred, said Abha Khanna (a Hobbs lawyer), who won the race by just under 17,000 votes.

Lake’s lawyers were focused on problems with some ballot printers at polling places within Maricopa County. This county is home to over 60% of the state’s voters.

The ballots printed by the defective printers were too small to be read at polling sites by the tabulators. The confusion caused lines to become backed up in certain areas.

Officials in the county say that everyone was able to vote. They also claim that all ballots were counted. In addition, any ballots affected with printer issues were taken to more sophisticated counters at Elections Department Headquarters.

The centerpiece of her campaign

Lake was nevertheless vocal in supporting the falsehoods of former President Donald Trump’s election.

These beliefs were the foundation of Lake’s campaign.

Lake is not like most other election deniers in the country who conceded after losing their races in Nov.

Instead, she wants the judge to declare her the winner or order an appeal in Maricopa County.
