Deputies: Florida man accused of making machine guns

This week, Lucas Shirley was charged with four counts relating to the manufacturing firearms in his home.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville man appeared in federal court Friday to face a judge after he was indicted on charges related to the manufacture of firearms inside his home.

This week, Lucas Shirley was indicted on four charges related to the manufacture and possess of firearms that were unregistered by the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

Investigators claim that Shirley used electronic tools, including cellphones, 3D printers, and other electronic devices to make, possess and advertise firearms.

Investigators also said Shirley dealt with silencers and short-barred rifles.

Investigators claim that a confidential informant placed an order to purchase silencers and rifles privately manufactured by him.

Privately made firearms are those that are not licensed and have no serial number.

Documents reveal text sent from Shirley, CI:

“No spoilers, but I’ve got you hooked up with the s*** that the seals run, in your preferred length, with all steel handcrafted, full welded hush cans… and the high end and top tier features you’ll just have to see lol.”

The CI returned to a house where Shirley was allegedly producing guns. They noted that a smelting kettle covered with a metallic substance was found on the kitchen floor, and that a 3D printer could be found on the living area floor.

The CI stated that the room had a welding bench as well as ventilation. Another room was described in documents as the “painting area”.

Shirley asked for $10,900 to buy four rifles and four silencers.

According to the above information, investigators were able secure a warrant for his capture.

Shirley was currently on probation for a period of 10 years in connection with a charge of possessing a controlled substance.
