HubSpot pitch competition at Grit Daily house: Meet the Startups Trying to Change the World


It is difficult to start a startup. One of the most challenging tasks for founders is finding support and exposure during the early stages. Startups often lack the resources, networks, or experience to attract investors, customers, or mentors. There are many opportunities for startups and their teams around the globe to showcase what they can do, including pitch competitions.

This year’s edition of Grit Daily House at SXSW saw 4 entrepreneurs pitch their startups to a panel of judges as part of the “HubSpot Pitch Competition” organized by investor and serial entrepreneur Eric “ERock” Christopher. The panel consisted of Black Women Talk Tech’s Co-Founder Esosa Ighodaro, The Lifestyle Investor’s Founder Justin Donald, HubSpot’s Senior Head of Startup Growth Kelsey Gernert AinaERock himself.

Real Time Network is founded by Tim Flatt. The company launches a new technology called Real-Time Voice Analyzer. It uses voice biomarkers as well as AI to detect respiratory diseases, including COVID-19. The company will collaborate with Dr. Rita Singh from MIT, Yale Medical School, and Carnegie Mellon. She has been developing this technology since 2014. The technology has been successfully tested in Asia’s health clinics and has been found to be accessible using low-cost smartphones.

Chance Glenn Professor and engineer, he has created a 3D printer that can print electronic devices using conductive, capacitive, and semiconductor materials. The 3D printer can be used immediately after the printing process is completed. It will also be comparable in price to traditional FDM3d printers. The project was funded by NASA and private citizens through a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Nate Thomas Shmoody is a startup that has created a mental health app that is both effective and fun to use.  Mike, Nate’s cofounder, bonded over the shared desire to provide tools that work for them in their mental health improvement journeys to millions of people. The app uses science-based methods like behavioral activation and gamification in order to help its users develop mental health habits that will benefit them long-term.

Henry Baiz Gane Mobile is the CEO and Founder. This cell phone service offers free service to users using a standard SIM card or a proprietary app. Users can earn tokens by interacting with sponsored content, which includes news, advertisements, educational resources, and more. These tokens can then be used to exchange for services. The app also has a wallet that can send and receive remittances. This opens up new opportunities for financial inclusion and connects people more easily.
